Good Vision
For a driver to avoid a collision, you must have good vision. In sports like cricket, tennis or netball eye hand co-ordination determines where the ball will go.
Driving a motor vehicle requires the same methodology with hand or foot movement starting with vision.
This is then converted from a thinking process into a doing skill or technique.
Being distracted while driving is like taking you eye off the ball, however on the road consequences can be costly.

Motoring and politics must have so much in common
Again the issue of speeding has hit the media with tolerance, or a small margin for speedo error being eliminated? That was what the previous government was going to bring in had they been re- elected.
Now the O’Farrell and Stoner team has the job of cleaning up the mess left behind by Kristina Keneally and Co. Had this mob been a Pty Ltd company you could guarantee receivers would have been appointed based on poor management skills.

Drive to Survive will require more than a mind shift in NSW. As soon as a learner driver passes their test they walk back to the car and stuff the P plate behind the number plate, this is illegal,so the very first act of driving a car is unlawful. Indicator discipline is non-existent,the purpose of the blinker is to indicate your INTENSION to perform a manoeuvre, not something that comes on after the brake lights. When you try an explain that you are signalling to the person you cant see, a blank look is the most common reaction. When you say that at least once in your driving life they will exclaim"jeez where did that car come from,I didn't see him"thats the person you are signalling to. In regard to deaths in driveways from reversing vehicles, when you arrive home most people are not standing in the driveway to welcome you home. Therefore if you reverse into the driveway the potential for an accident is reduced and when you leave and the family comes out to wave goodbye you are travelling in a forward direction with much greater vision, you have to reverse at some stage, reversing on arrival is safer than departure. Keep up the good work. Best regards Ken Harris.
