Inexperience is the most common cause of road carnage with novice drivers over represented in motor vehicle accident statistics.

Ian Luff Motivation Australia Pty Ltd (est. 1983) has successfully developed the 'Drive to Survive' Pre Licence High School Program which is about saving our most precious resource – Human Life! Being highly interactive, this valued learning experience delivers thought provoking messages based on the many choices faced by these young people when approaching our roads.

This recent program supported by the Liverpool Catholic Club (LCC), brought these young adults to the Sydney Dragway. This meant we could conduct the program away from school and in a safe focussed environment. We included static displays of vehicles and had An interactive non motorised driving experience for them to participate in.

An important aspect of the program is the message of safe driving without the influence of drugs or alcohol and how peer pressure can sometimes persuade young people to make the wrong choice. Using our vision impaired goggles we were able to demonstrate to the students that there is no future in driving under the influence of any substance. Being at the Dragway also allowed us to reinforce our message of "taking speed off the roads".

Our discussion on illegal street racing was an integral part of the program, highlighting to the students that they can do their racing if they needed too on the Drag strip rather than on the public roads. The problem of young people illegally racing on our roads needs to be tackled, as this is a large contributor of serious car crashes in this age bracket.

With over seven western Sydney schools participating in this program we were able to pass this message on to over 2200 students.

The main aim of this program overall is to help save our most precious resource – Human Life!
